The 10th annual awards, announced today and opening the press schedule, recognized the best new vehicles of 2020 for Hispanic consumers based on styling, driving satisfaction, technology, safety, environmental impact, mechanical reliability and overall value.

The all-new 2020 Sonata has been selected this year as the winner of the Sedan of the Year award. The 2020 Sonata is the first car designed with Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language. It is a fully transformed vehicle showcasing a sporty four-door-coupe look and represents Hyundai’s new focus on creating emotional value using proportion, styling, and technology.
The 2020 Santa Fe with Hyundai SmartSense technologies, providing leading safety and convenience for drivers and passengers, won Family Vehicle of the Year award. The Hyundai Santa Fe is loaded with technology across all trim lines to enhance customer value and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ SUV. Most recently, the 2020 Santa Fe garnered a 5-Star Safety Rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The 2020 HMPA jurors were comprised of an independent panel of Hispanic automotive journalists, content creators, and industry influencers selected by the organization’s advisory board. Over 20 juror members evaluated more than 250 new vehicles. The HMPA jury panel considered overall design, comfort, safety, performance, functionality, accessory content, driver satisfaction, consumer final cost, and overall value package to select the vehicles that offer the best value for the Hispanic consumer.
The non-profit organization, Hispanic Motor Press Foundation, spearheads the awards and helps educate Hispanics on cleaner mobility through year-round grass roots efforts and events.
