SEOUL, August 16, 2018 — Hyundai Motor Company announced today that following past recognition from the design industry’s prestigious Red Dot Awards, the company has received five additional Communication Design accolades for 2018 for its creative and innovative design.
Hyundai SOLATI Moving Hotel – ‘Best of the Best’ in Sound Design
The Red Dot Award’s prestigious ‘Best of the Best’ award in the Sound Design category was granted to the Hyundai SOLATI Moving Hotel, a luxury light van developed in collaboration with SM Entertainment, the renowned entertainment group in South Korea. The vehicle offers space where celebrities from SM Entertainment can work and rest comfortably.
The front part of the vehicle is designed as a make-up area that includes spaces for make-up tools, detachable mirrors and color balance adjustable lighting where celebrities can apply their makeup and dress their hair. And, the rear part consists of a closet capable of storing clothes and shoes as well as a dressing area. Passengers can also help themselves to snacks in the mini refrigerator.
Hyundai Pavilion – ‘Winner’ in Brand Experience Installation
Hyundai was also a winner for its Hyundai Pavilion Spatial Communication, which was launched at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and has since been redeployed in Seoul to provide more opportunities to the public to experience the award winning exhibition for themselves. With its new title, ‘The Seed of New Society,’ the pavilion is based at Songwon Art Center in Seoul and will be open until the 30th of December, 2018.
The Hyundai Pavilion was created to bring Hyundai Motor’s brand vision of future mobility into a physical space and convey the story of its innovative fuel cell technology. Earlier this year the Hyundai Pavilion received a Bronze Lion at the prestigious Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in the category 'Design: Spatial & Sculptural Installation and Experience.’
Hyundai Pavilion – ‘Winner’ in Sound Design
Hyundai Pavilion was also a winner for its creative sound design, which used acoustic staging to create unique soundscapes throughout the exhibition, such as creating the illusion of an ever-rising tone symbolizing the charging of a car-battery, and wave form synthesis being applied to merge a piano tone with the sound of wind, creating an ethereal sound to represent the vastness of space. The entire concept was united by the Hyundai Motor’s brand sound universe, creating a holistic, immersive brand experience.
Hyundai Motor was also a winner (as a client) in Film & Animation for its Geneva Motor Show brand content film made in partnership with INNOCEAN Worldwide Europe, and a winner (as a client) in Interface & User Experience Design for its driver's secondary car accident prevention Safety Hologram created in partnership with Dongseo University.
Under the motto “In search of good design and creativity”, the Red Dot Award: Communication Design finds well designed works and creative projects from designers, agencies and companies from around the globe every year. Drawing on a prominent jury of more than 20 international experts, a Red Dot Award is recognized globally as one of the most sought-after marks for high quality design.
Hyundai Motor has won various Red Dot Awards in Communication Design accolades since 2013, including for the Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang.
