FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. Sept. 2, 2015 – Hyundai Motor America announced today that Derrick Hatami has been named Vice President, National Sales. Hatami will be responsible for all aspects of sales and distribution of Hyundai vehicles in the United States, franchised dealer relations, market representation, sales strategies and related activities. The five Hyundai sales regions will also report to Hatami in his new role. He will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Zuchowski.

Hatami begins work at Hyundai on September 4.

Hatami was most recently Vice President of U.S. Sales for Nissan Division where he set numerous sales records. Prior to that he served as General Manager for the Western Region at Hyundai Motor America. He also held the positions in strategic planning, market research, pricing and incentives and sales planning at Hyundai.

Hatami started his career in the automotive industry working for global consultancy Accenture and J.D. Power & Associates. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hawaii Pacific University and holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
