John Simmons has served as Hyundai Motor America’s senior group manager of product planning since 2018. In this role, he is responsible for vehicle positioning, packaging and pricing for the U.S. market. Simmons works closely with Hyundai Motor America’s parent company, Hyundai Motor Company, to make sure the voice of the customer is heard during vehicle development resulting in competitive, high quality products. He also monitors automotive, social and demographic trends to anticipate changes that could lead to product opportunities.
Previous to Hyundai, he worked for Toyota Motor North America in Toyota, Lexus and Scion product planning. Simmons holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA.
