Hyundai Motor America President and CEO Finbarr O’Neill was named “Asian Nameplate Executive All Star” and Vice President of Parts Frank Ferrara was named “Parts and Service All Star.” No Asian automotive importer received more All Star awards than Hyundai Motor America. The only other Asian automotive importer to receive two awards was Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. The awards are considered by many in the industry to be the most prestigious given to U.S. auto company executives. They are given in 21 categories and are modeled after the All Star awards given in the sport of baseball, where the best players in each position, regardless of team, are chosen for the awards. O’Neill stated, “This award should really be a team award. Our success depends on the dedication of so many people, here and in Korea.” O’Neill was praised by the magazine which said “he’s putting Hyundai back on the fast track.,” and noted the company had achieved “huge sales gains.” Ferrara was honored for his work in putting the Hyundai parts inventory online. “In an industry first, Hyundai put its parts inventory online for consumers and aftermarket repair shops” said Automotive News. O’Neill joined Hyundai Motor America in 1985 and was one of the company’s first employees. He served as General Counsel for the company until 1998 when he was named President and Chief Executive Officer. Ferrara joined Hyundai in 1986 and was named Vice President of Parts in 1997.
