PETER SCHREYER BIOGRAPHY
Peter Schreyer, president and chief design officer (CDO) of Hyundai Motor Group, is responsible for the company’s long-term design vision and differentiation, and building upon Hyundai Motor Company’s successful design philosophy ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ that led to significant sales growth in the global market.
Schreyer’s automotive career began in 1980 with Audi, and during his 25 years at the Volkswagen Group saw him successfully participate in a wide range of projects, becoming one of the driving forces behind the image change of the Audi brand.
Schreyer has received numerous recognitions and honors throughout his career, including “Design Team of the Year” in 1999 for Audi. In 2003, he also received the highest personal recognition for his unique design talent - the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Schreyer was born in Bad Reichenhall, Germany and grew up on his parents’ farm, developing a passion for cars and airplanes. He studied industrial design at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich, followed by a course in transportation design at the Royal College of Art in London. He also received an honorary doctorate from the Royal College of Art in recognition of his contributions to automotive design.
