HYUNDAI IONIQ HYBRID SETS 157.825 MPH, FIA-APPROVED LAND SPEED RECORD AT WORLD-RENOWNED BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS
BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS, Utah – A race-prepared Hyundai Ioniq hybrid prototype, developed by Hyundai Motor America’s Engineering and Quality team, set an FIA-approved production-based hybrid vehicle land speed record of 157.825 mph, with a peak exit speed of 160.7 mph at Utah’s renowned Bonneville Salt Flats. The eco-focused Ioniq is Hyundai’s newest hybrid model, with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains to be available. Ioniq hybrid and electric models go on sale in the U.S. in late 2016.
HYUNDAI EXPANDS OFFER OF FREE APPLE CARPLAY® AND ANDROID AUTO™ SOFTWARE UPDATES TO GROWING LINE OF VEHICLES
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Aug. 8, 2016 – Hyundai is adding smartphone integrations to several more existing models today, via do-it-yourself installation and now has completed the rollout of smartphone integration across the 2017 model year lineup. The software update compatible with CarPlay and Android Auto is now available at no cost through MyHyundai.com (www.myhyundai.com). The software will also be available at Hyundai dealerships nationwide for an installation fee.
HYUNDAI APPLAUDS NHTSA AND IIHS CALL FOR STANDARD AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Fountain Valley, Calif., Mar. 17, 2016 – Hyundai Motor America, a strong advocate for standardizing effective safety technologies, praises the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the automotive industry for working together to make Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) a standard feature on new cars in the future. The group, in which Hyundai was pleased to participate, has developed a voluntary commitment to make AEB standard on all new cars no later than NHTSA’s 2022 reporting year.
Erwin Raphael Named General Manager For the Genesis Brand in the United States
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 15, 2016 - Erwin Raphael has been named the new General Manager for the Genesis brand in the United States. He is responsible for the strategic direction and management of Genesis operations in the United States, including sales and marketing. He reports to Dave Zuchowski, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor America.
KIMBERLY WALKER NAMED GENERAL MANAGER OF HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA’S WESTERN REGION
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 15, 2016 – Hyundai Motor America named Kimberly Walker General Manager of the Western Region, effective March 1, 2016. In her new role, Walker will lead the day-to-day operations of more than 165 Hyundai dealerships across the 12 Western-most states in the United States. She will report to Hyundai’s Vice President of National Sales Derrick Hatami.
HYUNDAI TUCSON FUEL CELL DRIVERS ACCUMULATE MORE THAN ONE MILLION ZERO-EMISSION MILES
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., February 9, 2016 – Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell drivers have again surpassed an iconic threshold, accumulating more than 1,000,000 miles on the roads and highways of Southern California while emitting only clean water and replacing approximately 385 tons of CO2 emissions that would have been emitted from vehicles of similar size. Hyundai has delivered nearly 100 Tucson Fuel Cell crossovers since its introduction as the first mass-produced fuel cell in the U.S. market in June 2014.
HYUNDAI TUCSON FUEL CELL SETS LAND SPEED RECORD FOR PRODUCTION FUEL CELL SUV IN THE CALIFORNIA DESERT
SOGGY DRY LAKE, Calif., Dec. 2, 2015 – Hyundai’s Tucson Fuel Cell set the land speed record for a production hydrogen-powered SUV at the Soggy Dry Lake Bed of the California desert, with a top speed of 94.6 mph. The Tucson Fuel Cell is the first mass-produced fuel cell vehicle, with nearly 100 of these zero-emissions SUVs roaming the streets and highways of Southern California, the first of which was delivered to its owner in June 2014.
HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA NAMES DERRICK HATAMI VICE PRESIDENT OF NATIONAL SALES
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. Sept. 2, 2015 – Hyundai Motor America announced today that Derrick Hatami has been named Vice President, National Sales. Hatami will be responsible for all aspects of sales and distribution of Hyundai vehicles in the United States, franchised dealer relations, market representation, sales strategies and related activities. The five Hyundai sales regions will also report to Hatami in his new role. He will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Zuchowski.
