| HYUNDAI SALES CONTINUE TO CLIMB SEPTEMBER SALES SET ANOTHER RECORD FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., 10/02/2001 Hyundai Motor America today announced record sales of 30,166 vehicles for the month of September, up 44 percent over the previous year and the eighth consecutive record sales month. "Despite the fact that auto sales were put on hold for a few days following the tragic events of September 11, American consumers decided to fight back by returning their lives to as close to normal as possible and that included buying cars and sport utility vehicles," said Hyundai's Vice President of Sales, Robert Cosmai. "September was also an all-time record month for sales of the midsize Hyundai Sonata. Customer reaction to the new, high-value 2002 Sonata has been outstanding," he added. "There are three factors driving Hyundai's sales growth," Cosmai explained. "First is our consistent marketing message, building the Hyundai brand and reinforcing the Hyundai value story as a 'smart buy' in each market segment. Second is our focused dealer organization and, of course, there is The Hyundai Advantage, America's Best Warranty, featuring 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain protection." Following is the sales breakdown for September 2001:
