HYUNDAI CONTINUES RECORD SALES PACE MAY SALES UP 52% OVER LAST YEAR FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., 06/01/2000 Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 23,484 vehicles for the month of May, up 52% percent from one year ago. "May sales were outstanding. In fact, sales posted for this past month indicated it was the best May for Hyundai Motor America since 1988," said Robert Cosmai, vice-president of sales for Hyundai Motor America. "For the first five months of the year Hyundai sales are up 81% over last year." "With sales of 10,304 the Elantra continues to be our volume leader. Sales were up 39% over the same month last year," Cosmai added. "Our flagship Sonata recorded its best ever month with 5,326 sales, up 98% over last year," he said. "The Hyundai product line is nearly all-new and all our vehicles are backed with The Hyundai Advantage, America뭩 Best Warranty which includes our 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. In addition, our dealers are really focused on the franchise and their enthusiasm for the brand is paying off with increased sales," Cosmai added.
