Romero will be responsible for all Hyundai ethnic marketing and advertising in the United States. She will report directly to Chris Perry, senior national manager of marketing communications. Romero, a specialist in brand building, comes to Hyundai from Bumpercar, Inc., a Hispanic advertising agency, where she developed and directed strategic marketing plans for top brands. Prior to this, she was California marketing manager for Daimler Chrysler where she achieved market share increase in the state during her first year, mainly by expanding marketing efforts to reach ethnic consumers. Prior automotive and marketing industry posts include marketing manager for Toshiba America where she was responsible for U.S. and International advertising and marketing; and global sales and marketing manager for American Honda Motor Company, where she piloted expansion efforts in Latin America. “We’re very excited to have Patricia, an accomplished marketing strategist with expertise among multicultural consumers, join the Hyundai team. We recognize that the ethnic markets have significantly contributed to Hyundai’s growth and success in recent years. Romero has the expertise and vision to further the brand’s reach and appeal among diverse consumers,” said Perry. “Hyundai is clearly expanding and growing its relevance in the automotive marketplace, making remarkable strides in its product offerings and overall brand initiatives,” said Romero. “I look forward to working with Hyundai associates and all our marketing partners to deliver the appropriate communication vehicles for ethnic consumers and contribute to Hyundai’s success in the U.S. marketplace.” Romero was recently recognized as an influential decision maker within the Los Angeles business community as nominee for “2007 Women Making a Difference” by the Los Angeles Business Journal. She serves on the Board of Directors for the National Latina Business Women Association, and was recently appointed to the Board of the American Red Cross Orange County Chapter. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Spanish from the University of San Diego.
